The Nando'S STORY

Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us. My name is Hernando J. Cuellar and I am very proud to introduce myself to you as the operating partner and chef.


Without realizing it, I have been preparing to open this restaurant since I was a young boy. I was born in Monterrey, Mexico then attended college in San Marcos at Texas State.From there, I moved to Houston and started working at the Original Ninfa’s Restaurant. That experience enriched my passion for cooking and it was then that I knew I was meant to spend my life serving others. And if that wasn’t enough, while working a double shift I met the love of my life Karen.

 

Karen and I moved to Baton Rouge in 1993 to open Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant. After 22 years of operating Ninfa’s, having spent 30 years perfecting my craft, I’ve partnered with Louis DeAngelo, and our Family and Team offer you Nando’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina.


We have worked hard to present you with a menu that is rooted in Authentic Mexican Tradition and promise to always serve you Margaritas that are blended to order,and guacamole that is prepared by splitting open a delicious ripe avocado when you order it. And the thing I may be most proud of, every tortilla is handmade the way “MAMI YA-YA” taught me.
